Fully integrated plug and play Robotic automation solutions

The Versabuilt automation systems are fully integrated, plug & play systems for leading machine tools including Haas, Mazak, DMG Mori machines to name a few. The systems are controlled entirely from the Versabuilt VSC control unit and come in both Mill and Lathe versions.

Our packages include a Universal Robot UR10E 6-axis robot, mounting stand, software interface for direct control through the machine tool, electrical interface box, safety guarding, and all necessary solenoids, hardware, and cables.

The Mill Automation System with MultiGrip automation work holding allows your machinists to easily add new parts just by cutting vise soft jaws and entering parameters on a web page. Only MultiGrip has an effective solution to the difficult problem of Op 1 to Op 2 transfer in CNC milling automation resulting in longer automation run times, and more production with less labour.

The Lathe Automation System is a Standard Automation System that requires no robot programming to use. Your operators can add new parts simply by entering parameters on a web page. The DuoGrip Gripper accommodates pipes and pucks of virtually any shape using exchangeable gripper fingers.

Unlock Smart CNC Automation with VersaBuilt

At Thame Workholding, we are committed to helping engineering shops improve efficiency, output and competitiveness. VersaBuilt automation systems provide a practical, accessible way to bring CNC automation to everyday manufacturing environments. These systems offer a plug-and-play approach that removes many of the barriers that usually make automation feel complex or expensive.

Why VersaBuilt Stands Out

Simple integration with existing machines
VersaBuilt systems work with a wide range of CNC machines, including milling and turning centres. They are suitable for both new and older machines, which means manufacturers can upgrade to automation without replacing their equipment. This creates a cost effective path into automation for small and medium sized shops.

No robot programming required
Traditional robotic systems often require specialist programming skills, but VersaBuilt eliminates this challenge. All robot motions are pre-programmed. Operators enter the part details and the CNC program number through an intuitive software interface. Existing machinists can run the system without a robotics specialist, keeping training requirements low and making adoption far easier.

Flexible handling through MultiGrip technology
VersaBuilt’s patented MultiGrip system is a significant advantage. The same vice jaws that clamp the part in the CNC machine can also act as the robot gripper. This removes the need for separate robot grippers, custom fixtures or complicated tool changes. It also makes changeovers faster and significantly reduces tooling costs.

MultiGrip also solves the common challenge of transferring parts between Op 1 and Op 2. The system provides reliable part handling between machining operations, which is essential for repeatable, consistent automation.

Fast setup and rapid payback
VersaBuilt systems are designed for quick installation and minimal disruption. Many users can begin running parts on the same day the system is installed. By reducing manual loading and increasing machine utilisation, manufacturers can expect improved throughput with less labour input.

Designed for high mix and variable volume production
Many automation systems only make financial sense for high-volume, repeatable work. VersaBuilt is different. It is designed for shops that produce a wide variety of parts and operate in a high-mix environment. This makes it ideal for subcontractors, precision engineering firms and manufacturers handling frequent changeovers.

VersaBuilt Compared with Traditional Automation

Traditional automation often involves high setup costs, dedicated fixtures, long lead times and complicated robot programming. These systems are suitable for large scale manufacturing but can be unrealistic for smaller companies or those running varied part types.

VersaBuilt offers a smart alternative. It provides the key advantages of robotics, such as increased productivity and repeatability, without the steep learning curve or heavy investment. It is quick to install, straightforward to run and flexible enough for a wide range of part families. This makes it a realistic, low-risk option for many manufacturers looking to adopt automation without significant disruption.
